Jan Hume joined the Alabama School Readiness Alliance as the organization’s first Executive Director in November, 2008. Prior to joining the Alliance, Jan was the Program Manager for Leadership Alabama, the state’s leadership program. She also served as the Manager of Leadership Development at East Alabama Medical Center and as Grassroots Coordinator for the Alabama Partnership for Progress.


She spent the first ten years of her career at the Center for Governmental Services (CGS) at Auburn University working with state agencies, local governments and non-profit organizations in Alabama. She was responsible for providing technical assistance and training as well as working in support of reform efforts in the areas of tax, education, and constitution reform. Jan coordinated the state’s first electronic town meeting as part of a joint project of CGS, the Press-Register in Mobile and the Kettering Foundation. While at Auburn, she served in the faculty senate and on the outreach council.
