This year, more than 14,500 four-year-olds will learn and grow in Alabama's First Class Pre-K program. That's an increase of more than 2,800 students over the previous school year! This growth was made possible by a $16 million increase in state investments in First Class Pre-K, approved by the Alabama Legislature and augmented by a federal Preschool Development Grant. Thank you for advocating for pre-k expansion. Your lawmakers heard you loud and clear!
If your four-year-old is lucky enough to attend a high-quality pre-k program this year, we would love to see your first day photos!
Share your photos on our Facebook timeline or by Tweeting at us (@ALSRA), using the hashtag #PreK4AL. We will gladly re-post and re-tweet your pics to help celebrate the expansion of high-quality, voluntary pre-k in Alabama!

While we have made significant progress, only 1 out of every 4 four-year-olds in Alabama has access to our state's nationally-recognized First Class Pre-K program.
